It’s springtime in the Boston Metro! May weather is just about perfect for taking in a baseball game at Fenway Park, the nation’s oldest Major League Baseball stadium. Every Sunday in May: SoWa Open Market. Held in the art district of South Boston, the SoWa Open Market is a combination farmer’s market, arts market, food truck bazaar, beer garden and more. Located a few blocks from both I-93 & I-90, or take the MBTA Orange Line to Back Bay Station. In the event of inclement weather, features may vary. See website for details!

May 11-19: Bay State Bike Week features bike-centric events throughout Massachusetts! Enjoy bike rodeos, organized rides, breakfasts, workshops, and more.  Events happen in various locations. See the Bike Week event page for details!

May 12Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum.  10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Immerse your senses in hundreds of blooming lilac plants on the lush greens of Arnold Arboretum. Live music and family activities. Food trucks are on site, or you may bring a picnic. Here’s how to get there using public transportation.

May 12: Duckling Day. This popular Mother’s Day tradition takes place at Boston Common, with registration at 10:00 a.m. The Duckling Day Parade steps off at noon from the Common and ends in the Boston Public Garden. Same-day registration allowed; discount for advance registration.

May 22-May 27: The Garden of Flags on Boston Common honors Massachusetts men and women who have died in the defense of our nation. About 37,000 flags will be placed beginning at 1:00 p.m. on May 22, remaining on display until May 27.

May 24-26: Boston Calling Music FestivalThis eclectic music festival features several outdoor stages of live music at the Harvard Athletic Complex. Food and beverage vendors on site. This is a family-friendly event; however, the crowds can be boisterous! No strollers or backpacks.

May 27: Annual Memorial Day services at Veterans Memorial Park in the Back Bay Fens, 11:00 a.m., near the Kelleher Rose Gardens.
