There’s always something going on in Boston’s Metro area in the summer months. While it may seem that back to school time is approaching quickly, there are still plenty of family-friendly events to enjoy before the summer is over! Here’s a round-up of a few of the many events happening in Boston’s Metro area this month.
Free Outdoor Concerts in Hanover
The Phil’s Percussionists will be playing in Hanover on August 6th, and the Phil Woodwind Quintet will be playing on the 13th. Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs, food and drink & settle in for an hour of live music at Laura’s Center for the Arts on Mill Street in Hanover.
Outdoor Movies in Weymouth
Family friendly movies are shown on Thursday nights in August at the Ralph Talbot Amphitheatre next to Town Hall. Movies shown include “How to Train Your Dragon” on August 8th, “Hotel Transylvania” on the 15th, and “The Goonies” on the 22nd. All movies begin at 8:00 pm.
Dragon Boating
If you’re feeling adventurous, try Dragon Boating! Paddle on the Harbor takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays in August – It’s free – training and equipment are provided. You’ll be paddling with Living Root, a non-profit, co-ed dragon boat team based in Boston. It’s sure to be a great time and a good workout! For more information, visit the Boston.com events page.
Hingham Police Department’s Family Fun Day
Held on Sunday, August 25th, this is a free event for families! Some of the activities include face painting, a dunk tank, petting zoo, speed pitching, and cookie decorating. There will be food and drinks as well. The event runs from 11 am to 2 pm at Cronin Field behind the fire station – bring the whole family for a day of fun!
