Throughout my many years as a commercial real estate agent in Boston’s Metro South area, I’ve worked with businesses of all sizes and areas of expertise. One thing that they all have in common is that recently, they’ve started to go digital. If you don’t have an active online presence for your business, then you are at a huge disadvantage in today’s world. Most consumers start looking for goods and services on the Internet. It’s no wonder that online marketing has become more important than any other form of marketing, particularly for small businesses.
With that being said, it’s practically impossible to keep up with today’s online marketing terms. It tends to sound like another language. Here are a few important acronyms you should know as you start marketing your Metro South area business online:
PPC- This is a common acronym used to refer to pay-per-click advertising. When you place a pay-per-click ad, you’re essentially bidding a rate that will be charged whenever a user clicks on your ad. For small businesses, I highly recommend using Google AdWords or Facebook ads for the most exposure possible for your brand. You can hyper-target who sees your advertisement to ensure that you’re reaching people who you would want to convert to potential clients.
SEM-“Search Engine Marketing” or SEM, is an all-encompassing term for online marketing efforts that involve boosting your rankings in the search engines. This includes PPC and SEO, or search engine optimization. Blogging is another great SEM tool because you can write customized content that features targeted keywords that link to other aspects of your online presence. It’s organic “Google Juice”, and on many platforms it’s free. Including meta-tags on all pages of your website is another key SEM tactic.
SERPs- This one is easy to understand. It stands for “Search Engine Results Pages.” Naturally, all of your online marketing efforts will be designed to get you as close to or on page 1 of all major search engines.
CRO- Web marketers use a set of metrics to determine the effectiveness of all call to actions on your website. These include newsletter sign-up forms or other forms on your site designed to capture leads. The more of these call to actions you have, the higher CRO, or conversion rate optimization, you have. The visitors to your site “convert” into leads through these calls to action.
PR- Did you know that Google measures the quality of your website? This figure is commonly referred to as a PR, or PageRank. Your site is scored on a scale of 1-10 based on how many high-quality inbound links are pointed there. This is considered an accurate value of how much Google values your website.
Now that you know the basic acronyms that surround online marketing, you can put your newfound knowledge to work for your Metro South area business. As a commercial real estate agent for the many communities in this region, I attempt to keep my eye on the latest marketing trends and share them with my clients. It helps them grow. The more they grow the better office space they are able to secure.
If you have any questions about finding commercial space in Boston’s Metro South area, don’t hesitate to contact me and ask. I hope to hear from you soon.
