May 12-20: Bay State Bike Week features bike-centric events throughout Massachusetts! Enjoy bike rodeos, organized rides, breakfasts, workshops and more. Events happen in various locations. See the Bike Week event page for details!
May 13: Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum. 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Immerse your senses in hundreds of blooming lilac plants on the lush greens of Arnold Arboretum. Live music and family activities. Food trucks are on site, or you may bring a picnic. Here’s how to get there using public transportation.
May 13: Duckling Day. This popular Mother’s Day tradition takes place at Boston Common, with registration at 10:00 a.m. The Duckling Day Parade steps off at noon from the Common and ends in the Boston Public Garden. Same-day registration allowed; discount for advance registration.
May 25-27: Boston Calling Music Festival. This ever-growing, eclectic music festival features several outdoor stages of live music at City Hall Plaza. Food and beverage vendors are on site. This is a family-friendly event; however, the crowds can be boisterous, and strollers and backpacks are not allowed.
May 23-May 28: The Garden of Flags on Boston Common honors Massachusetts men and women who have died in the defense of our nation. About 37,000 flags will be placed beginning at 1:00 p.m. on May 23, remaining on display until May 28.
May 28: 71st Annual Memorial Day services at Veterans Memorial Park in the Back Bay Fens, 11:00 a.m., near the Kelleher Rose Gardens.
